Happy Earth Day! We love to watch our students, alumni, and STEM community use science to better their ecosystem.

Today, we want to celebrate incredible women making waves (and helping the planet while doing it.) Check out these leaders in STEM who are making waves in environmental science.

Software engineer and Girls Who Code Alumna Sejal Mehra turns old computer parts and recyclable materials into art. Recently, she created this Save the Turtles flag out of plastic straws, plastic bags, and tape to raise awareness about the harmful effects of plastic on the environment. Her work has been featured as a flag in Rockefeller Center in partnership with the UN Environment Programme and the Climate Museum.

Did you know that the average carbon footprint for a person in the US is about 16 tons? Learn more about how you can help in this activist toolkit created by one of our Girls Who Code students.
