Introducing Our Alumni Adivsory Council
Happy #AlumniApril! These Girls Who Code Alumni are totally vision board #goals. Meet a few inspiring members of our Alumni Advisory Council:
Morgan Young is an undergraduate senior studying Computer Science & Engineering with minors in Mathematics and Entrepreneurship at the University of Nevada, Reno. She has had five internships at Disney. She is also a social media influencer, garnering over 50K amount of followers on LinkedIn. Morgan creates and shares content about college, early careers, and Gen Zs in the workforce on her LinkedIn and through her newsletter. In her free time, she figure-skates, dances, tumbles, and enjoys time with her friends. Morgan also participates in pageants and was named Miss Clark County 2024.
Jayda Wade is a graduate of Bloom Institute of Technology, a nine-month intensive coding boot camp, and currently works as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon. Jayda has been involved in computer programming as well as robotics in her high school. During the summer of her sophomore year, Jayda decided to enroll in the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program, looking to surround herself with other empowering young womeninterested in tech. In her high school tech programs, she would often be one of the few girls in her classes.
Outside of coding, Jayda enjoys singing, making items for her small crafting business, and trying out new cooking recipes, especially learning her grandmother’s famous Jamaican recipes. She also enjoys learning to play new instruments.
Kayla Reyes is a Computer Engineering student at SUNY Westchester Community College. In the past, she has studied Robotics, Engineering, Education, Art, and Technology. Reyes also has a strong interest in art and video game design. She is currently working on both a visual novel and a comic. She aims to create a space for other Hispanic and Latino people to pursue STEM/STEAM.
Nishi Bhagat is currently studying Cognitive Science and Computer Science at the University of California, Davis. She participated in our Summer Immersion Program in high school and later founded a college loop on her campus. In her spare time, Nishi loves listening to music, going on runs, and exploring new places with her friends and family.
After being a part of our Summer Immersion Program, Elva Osorio studied computer science at Middlebury College. Driven by her passion to make a positive impact, she later founded a nonprofit organization within her local community. She’s also worked at places like Wells Fargo and was a research fellow for the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute. Elva also speaks three languages, English, Spanish, and Japanese.
