We think it’s time for women in STEM to (finally) get their flowers! That’s why all month long, we’ve asked her students and community to help us highlight women’s stories in STEM that often go overlooked.

Here’s what they had to say:

Have you ever heard of the First Lady of Physics? GWC’s own program manager Ava tells us the story of how Chien-Shiung Wu was far ahead of her time.

Did you know that the creator of modern-day computer languages was a woman in STEM? Mentoring Corps Manager Rola teaches us about computer science pioneer Grace Hopper.

Before Neil Armstrong, there was The Mercury 13. 👩‍🚀🚀✨ People and Operations Manager Shelsea Ramierz teaches us about The FLATs. Learn more about how these women in STEM paved the wave for space travel.

Imagine a world where women have equal opportunities in tech — the possibilities are endless! We also asked our Alumni Advisory Council to tell us what they hope the future of tech could look like in a more equitable landscape.

Lauren serves as an Enterprise Account Manager at ECS. Driven to empower others, Lauren founded Nice For What, an online community dedicated to educating, advocating, and healing college girls who are victims of sexual assault and dating violence ,which has amassed over 40K followers on Instagram. We also asked our Alumni Advisory Council to tell us what they hope the future of tech could look like in a more equitable landscape.

Data scientist, fashion model, content creator, and former Miss New York Earth USA Marizza Delgado explains what she thinks about a world where women actually have equal opportunities in tech.

At Girls Who Code, we are on a mission to close the gender gap in STEM and fight for a better culture for women in tech, not just in March but all year round. Follow us on Tiktok for more STEMspiration and subscribe to our newsletter for more tech and culture.
